Today we had been invited by Ministero del Turismo to intervene and share the Smartland Venice perspective at “TSI Project – Support to the tourism ecosystem: towards a more sustainable, resilient, and digital tourism. Promoting digitalization of the Italian tourism ecosystem, with a particular focus on SMEs”.
The workshop has been held in the Headquarters of the ENIT – Italian National Tourist Board with OECD – OCDE developing guidance towards a more sustainable, resilient and digital tourism sector in cooperation with the European Commission’s DGReform
Anthony La Salandra as cluster manager had opportunity to share some highlights from “hashtag#SMARTLAND – Smart Destinations in the Land of Venice, Mission 2026” projects and pilots realised 2020-2022 and presenting the current work of the Regional Innovative Network (Regione Veneto – InnovatiVE Veneto).
It had been underlined how from the demand side (tourists and travellers) tech & digitalization has now a very large adoption but a smooth & frictionless experience is not for everyone and must not take for granted from the offer. Tourists & travellers are getting used each day to better UX and UI from the big players : the bar keep raising. While from supply side (in particular startups ecosystems) it’s not just a matter of funding (going alone is not for everyone) but supporting and orienting is more and more fundamental (markets, frameworks and M&As are moving very fast).
The workshop had been the opportunity to exchange knowledge, facilitate peer learning as well as to build capacity to develop, pilot and implement measures as we are trying to do in Veneto. Experts and representatives shared international good practices and experiences as :
